AIMS OF THE CLUB First and foremost, to promote "a club atmosphere" and for you to enjoy your racing. To provide a more affordable form of racing while allowing machine development. To provide a competitive race series and championship. MEMBERSHIP Membership will run from 1st January to 31st December. Anyone who has not completed a membership form and paid their membership fee before they race will not score points or receive trophies. CAPACITY CLASSES
AWARDS Points will be awarded at each championship round irrespective of and separate from any championship run by the promoting club. Trophies will be awarded to the first two finishers in each class (subject to the class having sufficient entries). Championship points will be awarded as follows: 1st - 10, 2nd - 8, 3rd - 6, 4th - 5, 5th - 4, 6th - 3, 7th - 2, 8th - 1 Points will be awarded in both races on the day and trophies for the first race of the day only. In the event of the promoting club running more than 2 races per day per class, Earlystock Championship points will only be awarded in the first two races. In the event of a weekend meeting, each day will count as a separate championship round. In the event of only one race being run at a championship round, this will carry double points. CLUBS Membership forms for the other clubs you will need to join will be sent out to you when we receive your Earlystocks membership application. ENTRIES The format of entries, i.e. to whom they are sent and to whom cheques are made payable may vary. Full details of entries will be forwarded with the full list of championship rounds when they have been confirmed. A club member may race a machine that is known to not comply with the regs only if by the dosing date there is space on the grid. This applies only to Earlystocks eligible machines that fail to comply with the regs in some way, for instance, alloy rims instead of steel fitted. It does not extend to R1,s GSXR,s etc. Anyone failing to comply with the machine eligibility rules will not score points or be eligible for trophies and will start from the rear of the grid. MACHINE ELIGIBILITY Any production twin shock air cooled machine which was readily available in the U.K. up to 1990. Therefore, no 'retros' such as Zephyrs etc. are allowed. The club does allow water cooled twin shock production road machines available during the period to be used i.e. GT750, CX500, Zl300 etc. Limited editions produced by importers or accessory companies, e.g. Dunstalls etc, are not classed as production machines. Any variations from the standard spec of the machine must remain within the extent of modifications allowed in a particular class. 'Production machine' means any machine available for road use in the UK from either manufacturer or importer. It does not extend to specialist frame manufacturers such as P&M, Bimota etc. who used bought in engines in their own frames. DEFINITION OF MAKE AND MODEL OF MACHINE Due to the number of non original machines that are available, i.e. RD4OODs fitted with RD400E forks and brakes etc. it has been decided that a machine will be considered to be 'as standard' as long as any differences from the factory specification are limited to the use of parts from the same model but of a different year or version, as long as basic criteria such as castor angles or trail figures remain unchanged. All such parts however must be from an eligible machine and be a bolt on fitment, i.e. no machining or brackets required. In effect there will be no distinction between a RD400D and a R0400E or a GT750J with a drum front brake and the twin disc GT750B. IMPORTS Although the eligibility rules relate to U.K. machines it is realized that there are a growing number of imports in circulation. To cater for this, only imports that are based on a UK model, i.e. same engine and rolling chassis, will be automatically eligible provided the specification does not exceed that to which a UK spec machine can be modified. Imports not falling into the above category will be considered for eligibility on an individual basis. OPTIONAL EXTRAS Where a machine was offered with optional extras from new, these modifications will be allowed, provided that the machine owner can provide documented evidence of such modifications being offered as 'official' extras at the time of sale. PRODUCTION CLASS: This class is for standard machines with limited modifications. The following modifications may be made. FRAMES The frame and swinging arm must be standard and all geometry unaltered, i.e. unbraced. Steering dampers are permitted. FORKS & YOKES The front forks & yokes must be standard except for internal modifications. Fork braces are permitted. BRAKES AND WHEELS Wheels to remain standard. Standard discs/drums to be retained. Front callipers can be changed but must remain the same type, i.e. a single piston sliding calliper can only be replaced with a single piston sliding calliper. The front master cylinder may be changed, but the bore size to remain standard. Drilled discs and non- standard linkages and hoses may be used. BODYWORK Non standard seats, handlebars and rear sets are permitted. Fairings are not allowed unless standard fitment, pattern fairings are permitted in such cases. All road going equipment e.g. lights etc. may be removed. For machines without fairings, the front number plate must be a flat plate curved in one plane only, i.e. not made to resemble a fairing. ENGINES Tuning, e.g. porting, cams etc. is permitted. Fuel system must remain as standard type, e.g. standard sized carburettors must be retained, removal of filters/air boxes is permitted. If retained no additional ducting is permitted, i.e. no positive pressure air box systems. All engine casings to be original type as fitted to machine. The stroke of the crankshaft is to remain standard. Self-generating 'race' ignition systems, e.g. Femsas or Motoplats, are not permitted. Exhausts may be changed but must be of a road type i.e. Micron, Harris etc. In all cases modifications may be made to increase ground clearance etc. e.g. for four strokes, road based headers and collectors are required. Secondary pipe and end can choice is free. For two stokes the actual chamber must be road based, a purpose built copy of a modified road chamber would not be considered to be a road type. TYRES Race tyres are permitted, 'WETS' (i.e. unsuitable for use on a dry track) are not allowed. Tyre warmers are not allowed. MODIFIED CLASS: FRAMES The geometry of the frame must remain as standard, i.e. steering head must not be altered. The addition of gussets or other forms of bracing is permitted providing they are SMALL AND DISCREET i.e. the appearance of the frame to remain as standard when machine fitted with bodywork. Non standard swinging arms are permitted but top suspension mounts to remain as standard. Steering dampers are allowed. FORKS & YOKES Front forks can be from any pre 1990 production machine i.e. no race forks etc. Maximum stanchion size permitted to be no greater than original forks. Yokes must be from the same manufacturer as the frame. FRONT WHEELS Any production or spoked wheels may be used. Minimum rim diameter to be 18" No width restrictions. REAR WHEELS Any production or spoked wheels may be used. No rim diameter restriction. Rim width to be a maximum of 4.5" Race wheels are defined as any wheel produced for racing purposes by companies such as Marchenisi, Dymag, etc. and not originally fitted to an homologated production machine pre 1990. TYRES 750cc and 1300cc class machines are limited to a maximum rear tyre width of 160mm. 250cc and 500cc class machines are limited to a maximum rear tyre width of 130mm. BRAKES FRONT BRAKES: Any twin piston callipers may be used. Any discs and master cylinder may be used. REAR BRAKES: Any rear brakes are permitted. BODYWORK Non standard tanks, seats and rear sets are permitted. No fairings or parts of fairings are permitted unless original equipment. In such cases, pattern fairings are permitted. All road-going equipment may be removed. For machines without fairings, front number plates must be a flat plate curved in one plane only and not be made to resemble a fairing. ENGINES Any tuning, i.e. exhausts, ignition or carburettors is allowed, but fuel system type to remain as standard type, i.e. no fitment of aftermarket injection systems or positive pressure air box systems is permitted. No hybrids allowed, i.e. crankcases to be of original type and number of valves to remain as standard. Other engine castings, i.e. barrels, heads to be of the same manufacturer as the frame. Although the stroke of the engine must remain standard, as long as no modifications are required to fit a long stroke crank (see above), a complete engine with a different stroke may be used as long as it comes from a machine with the same frame geometry, i.e. a CB250N could be fitted with a CB400N Engine or an RD400 fitted with an RD250 engine. GENERAL Race tyres are permitted. Wets (i.e. unsuitable for use on a dry track) are not allowed. Tyre warmers are not allowed. All machines must comply with all A.C.U. regulations. |
